Sustainable Material Project
A library to help industrial designers explore sustainable materials.
Material Library
I began developing this library in 2020 and periodically update it with new and alternative materials.
The goal of the Sustainable Material Project is to act as a living resource for myself and other designers to find viable alternatives when designing physical products.
The library is categorized into 5 major sections including Plastic, Metal, Wood, Glass, and Fabrics. Each section has both conventional and unique materials with a description of their environmental impact.

Design Methods
Along with the material library I have been developing a range of Sustainable Design Methods that I use in my personal and professional work
These methods not only help me stay accountable to sustainable design they also help me communicate potential design directions when working with other designers or clients.
Each of these methods has been specifically chosen to work in both an environmental capacity and from a profitability perspective.
Material Comparisons
The sustainable Material Project allows for direction comparisons between materials within and across categories to find the best fit for a design.
When paired with sustainable design methods, we can have a more practical and solidified conversation about implementing sustainable designs.
