Entry
A modern, customizable storage mirror
Research & Strategy
This project was intended to cater to a growing trend in functional, stylish home organization.
Our interior decor team requested market research and ideation for a storage mirror that could be used in entryways, bedrooms, and home offices.
After evaluating the market, I found a defined trend towards small wall-mounted mirrors and hall trees that included built-in mirrors.
Given the popularity of these two product types, one of the product goals was to blend the style and functionality of these two products to cater to a wider consumer base.

Ideation
Early ideation explored more utilitarian designs with unique form factors
The goal of this phase was to brainstorm features that offer concrete practical benefits, along with general wall-mounting methods
This stage helped define the customizable features of the product line.
Refinement
Once the customization and wall mounting was defined, I moved into exploring more style-driving designs.
Given the competitiveness of the wall mirror/hall tree market, we needed a style that would both stand out in the marketplace, but not polarize consumers
I explored trending forms followed from my other market research projects on furniture and decor - which informed the slat, arch, and shadow-box directions.

Final Direction
After global review, the slat wall mirror direction was approved.
This design achieved a low-profile wall-mounted decor aesthetic while providing practical benefits in both the full-length mirror as well as the various organization modules that could be added to the slats.
The base design offers a cubby shelf, double coat hooks, and a flat shelf for customized organization.
Production Drawings
After final approval, I moved into developing a tech pack detailing all the custom elements of the product and defining the tolerances to ensure and secure and reliable fit for all add-ons.
These documents were the groundwork for my collaboration with the manufacturing team in China to assemble our samples.

Production
After some refinement, the prototype was fully assembled and shipped to the US team for final approval.
The Slat Entry Wall Mirror has entered production and will be launched in 2023.
