Juniper Line

A furniture line designed for Wayfair’s Mistana Boho Collection.

Research & Strategy

  • For this project, my team and I partnered with Wayfair to offer products for their Mistana Flagship Boho Brand.

  • Through market research, I identified current boho style trends, popular product types, and a mood board exploring top features, materials, and colors

  • As a result of the market research, I developed a direction for CMF and a user persona based on available buyer demographic data.

  • After taking input from industry-leading designers, brands, and surveys, a style projection was developed which helped further define the product direction.

Ideation

  • The early phase of ideation explored trending product types, features, and style variations

  • These designs incorporated features and trends seen across the marketplace - with early ideation acting as an exploration of potential product direction.

Refinement

  • Through multiple phases of iteration, we refined the product styling into two general directions: curved/organic boho or minimalist modern boho

  • At this phase, I began finding ways to create visual consistency across product types while defining the visual language for the product line.

Final Direction

  • The final line landed on a minimalist modern styling with traditional elements of boho, focusing on mixed material.

  • This style direction not only catered to a more universal audience with its adaptable style but also incorporated into the Wayfair Mistana brand more easily.

Production Drawings

  • Once the designs for the Juniper line were approved internally and by the Wayfair Team, I developed tech packs for sampling and production.

  • At this stage, I began standardizing parts to reinforce modularity and repairability, especially as I designed these products with natural rattan that is liable to breakage.

Production

  • Prototyping began with the Juniper Accent cabinet with this product being approved and set to launch in Q2 of 2023

  • The accent cabinet was chosen as the product to start the launch of a Juniper line.
